At first glance it might seem an unusual recipe to find on a nutritionist's site but the ingredients in these chocolatey truffles, I promise you, contain some great health benefits - perfect when you're looking for something sweet but want to keep on track. These guilt-free treats are made using raw cacao rich in antioxidants, magnesium, iron and fibre plus dates for sweetness. No added sugar!
Ingredients:
80g pitted dates (Medjool or similar)
2 tbsp milk (plant-based or semi-skimmed)
3 tbsp raw cacao powder
1 tsp coconut oil
desiccated coconut for coating
Method
Blitz all the ingredients except the coconut together in a small food blender until smooth.
Roll the mixture into 7-8 balls (each weighs around 20g)
Place around 40g of coconut into a dish and roll the balls in the coconut until evenly coated.
They're ready to eat but also keep well in the fridge ready for when you get the urge…
